Sweet pears and organic medjool dates come together beneath a golden oat and almond crumble. Gently spiced with cinnamon, this comforting dessert is easy to prepare and delicious served warm with yogurt, cream or vanilla ice cream.
Ingredients
Pear Filling
- 600 g pears, cored and cut into pieces
- 100 g organic medjool dates, pitted and finely chopped
- 20 ml lemon juice
- 40 ml maple syrup
- 10 g cornflour
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
Crumble Topping
- 70 g oats
- 60 g almond meal
- 40 g butter, melted
- 40 ml maple syrup
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon

Prepare the filling
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Add the pears and chopped dates to a baking dish. Sprinkle over the cornflour and cinnamon, then add the lemon juice and maple syrup. Mix well until the fruit is evenly coated. -
Make the crumble
In a bowl, combine the oats, almond meal and cinnamon. Add the melted butter and maple syrup and mix until the ingredients come together into a crumbly mixture. -
Assemble
Spread the crumble mixture evenly over the pear and date filling. -
Bake
Bake for 30–40 minutes, or until the pears are tender and the crumble topping is golden brown. -
Serve
Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm, on its own or with yogurt, whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
